With less than 4 weeks to my booked UKCAT exam date, I am feeling a mixed bag of thoughts. Being in New Zealand, no one here is really aware of the UKCAT or what It is.
For admission into medical schools in Australia and also for New Zealand there is a test called UMAT which has three sections
1. Logical reasoning
2. Understanding people
3. Abstract reasoning
However in my opinion it is much harder than the UKCAT seems to be. It is a 3 hour long exam, and the first section has a lot of puzzles etc.
As I begin preparation, one of the things I had to consider was what materials would I need? After relentless research and private messages to people on some forums, EMEDICA ukcat prep came up as a consistent name. I anticipate the verbal reasoning to be strength of mine as I can read quite fast and take in relevant information, however I am not feeling confident for the quantitative reasoning at all! I definitely will need the calculator and my speed for maths is not exactly the best. I am hoping that by practicing questions and most importantly techniques I should be able to improve in this section.
There is something though which I still get confused about and that is the marking system / scoring for the test. I don’t quite understand what the average score means and how it is derived. I guess I will have to figure it out!
