“Wow, I don’t envy you” seems to be the go-to response for my friends when I show them what the UKCAT is.
I’m armed with my 3 month subscription to UKCATprep.com and the book ‘Getting into Medical School, 600 UKCAT Practice Questions’ – which I’ve read cover to cover. The explanations behind the right answers make it seem so easy but it’s a different matter when it comes down to me actually answering them! It’s like a whole new language. Gobbledigook.
I can get my head around some sections easier than others, for example, decision analysis seems to make sense to me, whereas verbal reasoning is slightly overwhelming! It’s not so much the questions themselves, but the time constraints in which we have to complete them. I’ve been told that you’re not expected to answer every single one, just as many as you can. Even so, 2 hours to answer sooo many questions… Oh, my.
Hopefully with more practise – and lots of it – the answers will come to me quicker and more easily. With time running out already, it will have to!
