This was the section where I felt as though they were trying to catch me out the most! It’s very difficult to balance reading the questions and information thoroughly and keeping to time. Even if this is not a section where you struggle, don’t underestimate the pressure of being in exam conditions with the clock counting down. Practise as much as you can and focus on the following three things:

  1. Make sure you have a grasp of the data set, what is represents and what information it communicates
  2. Read the question and look and look at the answer options. If, for example, the answer options are in different units than the data set this will give you the heads up before you start your calculations.
  3. More haste, less speed. It’s easy to get flustered, and you do need to be aware of time, but panicking will only lead to you making mistakes.

Keep a cool head, let the question and information sink in and do your best to keep to time.
